Is Unlucky Racing still relevant in 2023?

Updated: Apr 18, 2023

What a stupid title for a blog post. The simple way to answer this is with another question. Does anyone actually care about being relevant?

In 2022, I was caught up with work, moving house and my family. This left little time for messing about in and on cars. The Clio got garaged and I spent the majority of my automotive time in the van. Well, in 2023 it's time we did something about this.

At the beginning of the year, literally January 1st 2023 I went and bought a new 'family car'. I went through so many different options but finally landed on an F31 320d. My perfect car would be an F80 M3 but I had to be a bit practical. This car gives me fantastic MPG, has loads of room for the kids and, in my opinion, looks stunning.

On January 2nd 2023 I ordered wheels, tyres and an M Performance bodykit. I knew exactly what I wanted and could see it in my head. Over the last couple of months I've been slowly fitting pieces of the puzzle and there are still plenty more to come.

I've been a bit more active on the socials recently, starting an Instagram and TikTok account specifically for this car (to save my normal friends and family from the barrage of car content). Give me a follow if you want @unlucky_f31 on both.

Lastly, I just wanted to say a few words about Paul Straker. Paul was a much loved and well respected friend and part of the original Unlucky Racing crew. We'd spend hours chatting shit in his recovery truck and I have lost count of the amount of times he really helped not only myself out but many other members too. We spent some fantastic times with him over the years, many of which at his little home on the hard shoulder. Paul was a no nonsense kind of guy but he'd always have your back. He will be missed by many. My thoughts go out to Leanne and all of Paul's family.

Peace up, A Town down. Giles
